Accident Recovery in Longview, TX

Collision and rollover recovery on I-20, US-259, and Gregg County roads. We work with your insurance, not against you.

A wreck is already the worst part of your day. The tow shouldn't add to it. If you've been in a collision on I-20, spun into the median past White Oak, or clipped something turning off Loop 281, we handle the vehicle recovery so you can deal with the police report and your insurance company, not the logistics of getting your car off the road.

What it costs

SituationTypical priceWhat moves it
Standard collision tow, drivable position$150 to $200Distance to storage or shop
Winch-out from a ditch or median$225 to $300Angle, depth, ground condition
Rollover or off-road recovery, rigging required$275 to $350Rigging complexity, number of trucks needed

Most accident recoveries can be billed directly to your insurance carrier under your collision policy. If you'd rather pay on scene and file for reimbursement yourself, that works too. We'll ask which you prefer before we start.

What happens after a wreck

  1. Make sure everyone is safe and off the traffic lane if at all possible. Call 911 if there's injury.
  2. Call us. Tell us your location and whether the vehicle is drivable, in a ditch, or overturned.
  3. We dispatch immediately, accident recovery calls jump the line ahead of routine tows.
  4. On scene, our driver assesses the safest recovery method: straight pull, winch, or multi-point rigging for a rollover.
  5. We coordinate around police and any responding fire or EMS units already on scene, we don't work against first responders, we work around them.
  6. Vehicle gets recovered and hauled to your shop of choice or a secure storage yard.
  7. We provide paperwork your insurance adjuster needs and can direct-bill most carriers.

What makes an accident recovery harder

  • Vehicles in the grass median or drainage ditch. This is more common than people expect on the stretch between Longview and Hallsville, where the shoulder drops off into a ditch line. A straight tow-truck pull can damage the frame further, so these usually need a proper winch line and a stable anchor point first.
  • Active traffic control. When police have a lane shut down on I-20 or Loop 281, recovery has to work around their timeline, not ours. Safety of everyone on scene, including our driver, comes first.
  • Airbag deployment and fluid leaks. A car with deployed airbags or a cracked fuel line needs careful handling during the hook-up, not just a fast hookup.
  • Rollovers. These need rigging from multiple points, sometimes a second truck, and take meaningfully longer than a standard recovery.

How long it takes

A standard collision tow from a drivable resting position runs about the same as a regular tow, 35 to 55 minutes hook to drop-off. A winch-out from a ditch typically adds 20 to 40 minutes. A full rollover recovery with rigging can run 60 to 90 minutes depending on position and ground conditions.

One fact, not an adjective

Under Texas Transportation Code 550.062, a crash involving injury, death, or property damage of $1,000 or more has to be reported by the investigating officer. Most collision-scene tows we run fall into that reporting range, so we're used to working alongside an officer filling out a CR-3 report while we handle the vehicle.

Where these calls happen most

Merges and interchanges cause more of our accident calls than open stretches of straight highway. The area where US-259 splits from I-20 and continues north along Eastman Road sees more fender-benders than the corridor average, simply because through-traffic and local traffic are crossing paths at the same point. The east side toward Hallsville has more single-vehicle runoff incidents, cars drifting into the grass median or the drainage ditch that runs along that stretch, especially after a hard rain when the shoulder edge is harder to see.

Getting your car to the right place afterward

Once the vehicle's recovered, where it goes next depends on the situation. If you already have a body shop in mind in Longview, Kilgore, or Gladewater, we'll haul straight there. If the vehicle isn't drivable and you haven't decided yet, we can hold it at a secure storage yard while you sort out the claim with your adjuster. Either way, ask for a copy of the tow receipt for your insurance file before the driver leaves.

What we don't do: we don't guarantee recovery of loose personal items buried in a wrecked interior. We'll grab what's visible and reachable on the seats and in the door pockets, but we're not unpacking a trunk full of cargo on the shoulder of I-20.

Common questions

Do you work directly with my insurance company?

Yes, for most major carriers we can direct-bill the tow and recovery. Have your policy number ready, or we can get it from your insurance app on the spot.

Should I call you or the police first?

Call 911 first if anyone's hurt or if the crash needs to be reported. You can call us at the same time, or right after, and we'll coordinate arrival around the police response.

What if my car is in a ditch, not on the road?

That's a winch-out, not a standard tow. Tell us that on the call so we bring the right rigging instead of showing up with the wrong setup and losing time.

Can you tow to a body shop instead of a storage yard?

Yes, tell us the shop and we'll haul straight there if it's within the corridor. If it's farther out, we'll quote the extra mileage on the call.
